Howrse Cup

A brand new game is coming. It's called Howrse Cup and the game is currently is beta testing with a selected number of players from around the world. There is already some information on this new game, in the Events forum on International Howrse.

Here at Ultimate Howrse, we will be bringing you all you need to know about this groundbreaking new game which will be launched on 24th July 2012.

The game is a limited time game. That means it will only exist for a few months, before the servers are closed. This is because Howrse Cup is a group competition game where the focus is on competing against other teams of players, rather than spending time breeding and training your horses.

The aim of the game is to be the team who win the world championship in December.

A team has up to 15 members and the top 25 teams who collect the most diamonds in the next few months qualify to compete in the world championship for the Howrse Cup. The players of the team that win the Howrse Cup each get 100 passes and a new and exclusive Divine which they can activate on any server they wish.

To earn diamonds on Howrse Cup your horses need to win races. Every race you enter and place 1st - 4th brings you diamonds. The player and team rankings are all based on how many diamonds you have.

You can also enter challenges against other players to try and win their diamonds off them. For a challenge each player enters 2 horses into a Trot, Gallop, Showjumping, Cross Country and Dressage head-to-head competition. Whoever wins overall gets the diamonds.

However, it's not as easy as it sounds. On Howrse Cup you cannot see the skills or GPs of any of the other players horses - so you have no idea what you're up against!

The game is set up to make it as easy as possible to get your horses trained and start competing. Horses age 4 months instead of 2 and there are no WoYs, there are no rides, no strokes, no turnips and training is done in chunks of 3 hours in a single click.

There are no foal games, your horses age every 6 hours instead of waiting for the update and you can only buy / sell 1 horse a week (unless you have a Unicorn Account, similar to Howrse's Pegasus Account). Another thing is that you can't make your horses immortal!

Horses only start to lose health after the age of 30 and they never lose their skills - so you can keep them alive with Black Orchids if you wish. It takes a while to get used to after playing Howrse but is really simple once you pick it up.

So, an exciting development from Owlient and one we will be following closely. And of course, we will bring all the news and developments as they happen. Watch this space!

UPDATE: A lot of you are asking questions about the Howrse Cup, both here and in the forum on Howrse. Here are answers to some of those:

Q. Can I bring my horses over from Howrse to the Howrse Cup?
A. No. You start from scratch with just one horse

Q. Do you HAVE to buy passes to play?
A. No. But without passes, you have no chance of winning enough races to gain enough diamonds for your team, to climb the rankings.

Q. What is the point of the Howrse Cup.
A. To win. You join (or create) a team of players and compete against other teams to win as many diamonds as possible.  You win diamonds by coming 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in races. That's it!

Finally, there is a great deal of chatter about the Howrse Cup. It's important to be clear - this is a separate game from Howrse. It runs on it's own server and is a short-term, competitive game. It is designed to be very fast-paced and well, competitive!

There are no free BM items or passes to help you. The second the game starts, players will be buying dozens, hundreds of passes to race and breed their horses. The game is designed to make breeding and training much faster than on horse - so you can concentrate on entering races. BUT those players who can buy passes and give every BM item to their horses will be the ones who win the most diamonds for their team.

To BLUP a horse on The Howrse Cup only takes about 10-15 minutes! This game is fast and to be competitive you definitely need to buy passes.

If you cannot (or don't wish to) buy passes then of course you can still play. Just don't expect to earn many diamonds and don't feel too sad when more highly skilled horses 'stomp' on yours. It will happen I'm afraid. However you can still enjoy the fun of getting a team together and doing the best you can - passes or no passes.

Well, either way, everyone (over 13 years old - according to the rules from Owlient) will be able to join the Howrse Cup from July 24th. Then you can see for yourselves what the fuss is all about!

UPDATE: The game is now live. Enjoy!

  4. I thoughtI heard something about paying for critical stuff (eg, maybe a saddle or bridle) with passes... does any one else know about that?
    PM me- 123stablemate

  5. I Love howrse so this should be great and it is opening 2 days before my birthday or is it a day later

  6. 123stablemate - saddles and bridles don't exist on Howrse Cup. The only bonus giving items they can have are:
    Nyx Packs (only 4 passes)
    Bonus Packs (2 passes)
    GAs (1 pass)
    Medusa's Blood (1 pass)
    Helios' Ray (1 pass)

Obviously you can play without buying any of these things but your horses might not win as much. There is no store at all so there is nothing available to buy with equus / diamonds.

  7. Yap, sounds good. But what is it for? Maybe you win and then?

  9. hey I love this idea but I have no idea what to do or how to get on teams and how is it fair if we can't buy stuff with diamonds or equus. But if any one wants to start a team together I am kolbusz4 on the international one. Plus I am kolbusz4 on the U.S.A. And if there are teams I will be with HarryPotterFan1 on the international and maybe firefox other wise pm me for teams.

  15. Do you know why we have the 'cancel' button next to our registered horses in challenges? I've tried clicking it, but with no results.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ahhh .. this is quite too cool. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. The cancel button is broken at the moment - it's one of things they're trying to fix.

I assume it will mean you can withdraw your horse from a challenge and put another in instead - but we'll have to wait and see when it's fixed to be sure.

  18. Ok I have a question. If you are playing on the beta version, will whatever you get on that be transfered to the account when it officially opens up? Cuz that wouldn't be fair to players without the beta version. And it also isn't fair as they already know what is going on and how things work.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I probably wont look at this again so tell me at international sierrathepony.

How many horses can we buy?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Beta version players get nothing carried over when the Howrse Cup officially begins. But of course any knowledge of how to play, that they have gained can't be forgotten! That's why we are publishing help and info on the game so everyone has a better chance of getting the knowledge they need.

    Hope it's helping.

  24. Remember, everyone, the Howrse Cup is likely to be pretty expensive to play. You will need to buy a lot of passes in order to get all the BM items for your horses that you need in order for them to be really competitive.

It's great fun to play, especially being part of a team, but unless Owlient change the price of passes for the Howrse Cup, it's going to cost players quite a bit of cash to play.

    Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  50. What do you need passes for?? sounds like they are so important, but why? Oh, and can you quit a team after you have joined it?

    ReplyDelete
  51. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What do you need passes for? Well without passes you can't by any BM items for your horse - at all. This game has no UFO's, no item exchange and no Store. You have a Black Market and you can only buy items with passes.

Without BM items on your horse it will struggle to come anything but 5th in races and so won't win diamonds - which is the entire point of the game.

Of course you can still play the game, but there is nothing to do except enter races, so with no passes your horses will rarely achieve anything.

Also, you can only buy or sell 1 horse per week, unless you spend passes on a Unicorn account which allows you to buy and sell up to 5 horses a week.

And yes, you can leave a team at any time.

    Patsy

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah way to keep the non pass buyers spirts up eh Pasty

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sadly, it's not my decision what happens on Howrse or the Howrse Cup. I'm just explaining the facts of the game. And having played the beta version, I know that it's a pass buyers' game. I won't be able to take part in the game when it goes live, as I just can't afford to buy lots of passes.

As always, at Ultimate Howrse, we are simply doing out best to help and inform our readers.

    Good luck.

  55. do we choose our teams when we sign up or after?? because i dont have a team yet if if you want to be on my team i am Ponies_Rule on international please pm me!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  56. Do ww have to be over 13?

    ReplyDelete
  57. You choose your teams once you've signed up for the game. And yes you need to be over 13 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm lucky I turn 13 on the 23rd! xD

  60. Patsy, Thanks for the heads up re: Howrse Cup ~ it's really appreciated!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. It would be better if you had both equues (main currency on howrse) and passes.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hey everyone its Dusty Dog i cant wait!!! Howrse Cup Will be awesome but one question will i be able to enter my horse Missy Missy in Howrse Cup or will you give my a new horse spesifically for Howrse Cup?

    -Dusty

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sounds cool, but what about the people who cant buy passes?? that really isnt fair. Seems like if you cant drop the cash your left out.

    ReplyDelete
  64. It sounds fun but I have no chance of winning. What if people cant buy passes(like me). really unfair

    ReplyDelete
  65. sounds like a way for ow to get money off people buying passes as they try to win
i will probably play for fun though

    ReplyDelete
  66. This honestly sounds like it could be SO much fun. Honestly though, I was really REALLY hoping that they would give everyone as fair as a shot as possible. Obviously passes have to exist but I really thought they might not place such an importance on them and allow everyone a fair chance of some sort.

lol how stupid was I for thinking they'd do that?

    ReplyDelete
  67. wow this is hardly a fair chance I'm not participating anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm so excited, I find it a little unfair how everything on howrse is based around passes. I know it keeps the game running, but can ere not be one thing where everyone has an even chance?

    ReplyDelete
  69. how do you take part in olympia's challenge as a quest?

    ReplyDelete
  70. It's very glitchy and confusing. It's mainly just stomping.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Why do you have to be 13?

    ReplyDelete
  72. How do i enter one of my horses in a challenge? I can't seem to be able to do it.
I'm muddles1 on howrsecup and muddles1 on howrse.
I know how to work howrse but im stuck on howrsecup.
    Please PM me @ muddles1
    Thanks, Muddles1

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's kinda unfair about how the people that buy passes have a better chance. Whatever. I'll get over it eventually. There was something else I was going to say here but I forgot what it was.

    ReplyDelete
  74. You go to the challenges thing under breeders then scroll down to Olympia's challenge then click choose a horse and you're set

    ReplyDelete
  75. you do not need to buy tack, you can earn passes with a pass horse, horse that dies over 40, they start to lose health at 35.bmi are cheaper, enter lower difficulty races, esp jump to get wins faster. you can bold every thing before you have blupped your horse. foaling cost goes up each time.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm Uncoordinated and I run an non-pass buyers team. Please join! We're doing quite well without buying passes. We just want to get into the championship and win 20 passes. No way on earth would we win the 100 passes xP

    http://int.howrsecup.com/joueur/fiche/?id=107680

    ^That is my profile.

    ReplyDelete
  77. What we have to remember is that Owlient is a business. The whole point of a business is to make money. They make money by selling passes. Simples.

We are actually quite lucky that, as non payers, we can participate in their games.

I find it amusing that, often, the same people who complain about pass buers having "unfair" advantages, are the same ones who complain about "yet another promo". I love the promos as they give me a chance to get BMI I would not normally be able to get hold of.

And, at the moment, a non-pass buyer can do relatively well on Howrse Cup. Obviously the situation will change as GP and Skills increase, but my original foundation (which gained all the free BMI on offer through Olympia's Quests) came home in the top 100 in the GP yesterday. Non pass buyers can still contribute to a team and win a reasonable amount of diamonds.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I dont get on how you get loads of diamonds without buying passes. I dont buy passes, i have 10 howrses and i login every 6 hours to enter comps, ive been on since day 1 and yet ive only got less than 5,000 diamonds when loads of people have 10,000+. please tell me on how to get more please

  92. It is a good game. My BFFs sister is on a team, and she has permission to bug 2 passes a week.

    ReplyDelete
  93. The game is now closed. It should open again after the championships.

    ReplyDelete
  109. For everyone looking for the link, there is none. Howrse cup was permanently deleted from the internet back in 2012...
But it was fun while it lasted! :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. why was the game deleted ?

    ReplyDelete
  111. I wish it would come back.
"why was the game deleted ?"
Because it was a limited-time thing. They probably just un-published the site. Someday, I'm sure, they'll do it, again. It would seriously encourage players to buy passes.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Howrse Cup was a one-off game that has now finished - so you can't enter any more. Who knows, one day they might bring something similar back again!
