Croesus

The Croesus' first appeared on Howrse in the spring of 2010. To get one, players had to be in the first 100 players to reach level 10 of the 'old' Achievements. Myself and LucyLou were lucky enough to be amongst those first 100 players. As it happened, about 120 Croesus' were given out originally, due to variations in people getting their level 10 of the Achievements.

Each of these first 100 or so players was also awarded a 'VIP' icon which remains on their profile pages. After the first 100+ players had won their Croesus', Howrse decided to allow people the chance of winning one (without the 'VIP' badge icon!) in Horns of Plenty. This obviously meant many players were buying a lot of passes in the hope of winning one of these rare Divine horses.

Now all the Croesus' have been given out and there are less than two hundred in the game - making them both rare and valuable. One or two have been sold in the auctions and have fetched a huge amount of equus - around 4.5 million!

So, what are Croesus' and what do they do? Well here is Howrse's own explanation:

Croesus is a Divine horse that produces money instead of manure. Every 13th day of each month, Croesus earns his owner 1 pass provided the owner was logged on the previous day. If the 13th falls on a Friday, Croesus earns his owner 2 passes.
Every month, one horse among those named Junior Croesus is turned into Croesus
.

Aside from this, Croesus' skills aren't that great - just 470 skills when you get them. They can be Clouded so will make around 505 skills. Like all Divine's - they are male and cannot breed.

However, they are a lovely addition to anyone's collection - especially if you also have that little pink 'VIP icon sitting on your page!

  1. my howrse is called junior croesus , does it have a chance ?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Yes it does have a chance. Only a small chance, but if you have named one of your horses Junior Croesus, then it is possible that Howrse will turn it into a Croesus. One horse a month (on the 13th day) it transformed into a Croesus. Good luck!

  3. What happens to all the horses skills, green stars and BM items after it turns into a Croesus?

    ReplyDelete
  4. They lose all their skills/stars/BM's and become a Croesus. So it's best to use a lower skilled horse with no BM's for your Junior Croesus - just in case!

  5. Also, the more horses you have called Junior Croesus, the more chance you have

  9. lol i have 60 horses and more than half are male so im naming all the male ones Junior Croesus :P

  10. having more howrses named junior croesus does not affect your chances unfortunately

    ReplyDelete
  11. Based on odds, however, if there were 100 Junior Croesus, and you owned 1, you would have a 1% chance of getting a Croesus. If there were 100 Junior Croesus and you owned 5, you would have a 5% chance of getting one. Is this not correct? Mathematically and logically it is.

  12. Your horse must have been looked after the day before to turn into a Croesus though.

    ReplyDelete
  13. so,..wait i just can simply name a male foal junior croesus///

    ReplyDelete
  14. Does the horse you name Junior Croesus have to be a one you bred? :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. you have to breed the horse yourself, you can't just buy one. and how ever many you name Junior Croesus the more chance you'll get to own one. but if you don't get on howrse everyday than you should at least get on every 12th and 13th of each month to have a chance at getting a Croesus, because you only will get one if you log in the day before the 13th and take care of all your horses named Junior Croesus.
hope i made it clearer for anybody. my best friend named her horse Junior Croesus even though she didn't believe that it was every going to happen to her. she got one the next month, so it can happen to anybody on the game who follows the requirments above>>>

  16. so if i take a horse with 350 gp it will have 400 in skills as a croesus?????

does the horse have to be purebred?

    ReplyDelete
  18. vampchich1452 - you just need to call one horse Junior Croesus. Naming all your horses does not increase your chances. The game will only take into account one of them. Also, it can be any horse - you don't need to breed it yourself.

jjlook - yes any horse can be turned into a Croesus.

peachesandprincess - the horse doesn't have to be purebred

  20. I've never been so lucky as to have one- It would be nice, though, seeing as I can't buy passes. I've been on Howrse since when I was really young, when I always forgot about it, so I'd guess I've been on for, ah, I don't know, a while. Anyway, I'll keep hoping!

  21. Im confused. Do you have to breed it yourself? Can it be a female? Does having many Junior Croesuses increase your chances? How does Howrse decide the Croesus?

    ReplyDelete
  22. There are two ways to get a Croesus. You can buy one in the sales or you can be lucky and get one of your own horses turned into a Croesus.

You need to name a horse Junior Croesus and then cross your fingers! Only one is changed each month and it's completely random. Howrse will only take into account one horse named Junior Croesus - so having lots will not help.

    Croesus are all male.

  37. It's super hard to get. and it takes a long time. :( Does It have to be a cirtain age?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think so but I could be wrong. I have a foal named Junior Croesus, and am hoping like most that he will eventually be granted full Croesus-ness.

  40. Does this work to this day, 2012? two years later

  42. Yes I believe it still works now.

  43. Can the horse you name be female? and dose it have to be a foal or can it be an immortal adult(over 20 years)

    ReplyDelete
  44. ~ Yes, your horse can be female.
~ Your Junior Croesus can be any age, gender, or skill level.
~ You do not have to have bred the horse.
~ You *DO NOT* get a better chance with every JC you have. Only one will count.
~ Croesus does come with a Philosopher's Stone.
~ Your Junior's status (skills, GP, BM items, etc) before changing do not carry over. Think of it this way: the horse you named Junior Croesus vanishes and in its place is a Croesus, a whole new horse.
~For the math wiz a couple posts above, if there are 100 Juniors and you own one, yes you have a 1% chance. But then if you name another of your horses Junior Croesus, you will not have 2 out of 100, you will have 2 out of 101. But since only one counts this argument is pointless.

If you have any questions at all about the game, contact me at US Howrse, I am Equidgirl5 there.

  45. It's 202... does this still work???

  46. Does the horse have to be over 3 or can it be younger?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Does the horse have to be a certain age? And if it is friday the 13th does it give you a better chance of winning one? If you can answer my question I am horse gal 2000 on howrse!

    ReplyDelete
  48. so it doesnt have to be a male, have its training fineshed, only one counts, so no matter how many you have, you still have a 1/100 chance?
If you have answers PM me. I'm Leif on howrse.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Is the croesus horse immortal , I'm not having one that is gonna die.lol

    ReplyDelete
  50. ~No, having more than one Junior Croesus will *not* increase anyone's chance of getting a Croesus. If you have 200 horses name Junior Croesus, Howrse will only let one be in the random draw.
    ~The horse can be *female*
~The horse can be *any age*
~Yes, all divines are *immortal*. Only Greyfell Divines are *not* immortal
~It still works to this day, 2012
~If you get a Croesus, all traces of your previous horse will be removed. Including skills, gp, etc.
~Those with over one horse named Junior Croesus are wasting their time. It will not increase any chances.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I do not know if having more than 1 horse named Junior Croesus will make my chances higher. I don't know, some comments say yes and some say no. I might experiment some...
I never knew that this has been a cheat! AMAZING. I was wondering why some normal horses were named Junior Croesus.
    Anywho.
I will name a majority of my males Junior Croesus and see if it works. I do not *care* if someone says that I am wasting time, et cetera. I am going to try and hope I am lucky enough to get one!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Does the horse you call Junior Croesus have to be male? Or can it be female?

    ReplyDelete
  53. It can be any gender male and female to be a Croesus.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Can you name a donkey Junior Croesus and still have it count? Or does it have to be a horse?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Does this still work in 2013?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes, it does still work, and I'm pretty sure it has to be a HORSE, not a donkey that you name Junior Croesus.

    ReplyDelete
  57. so i have to take care of the horse the day before 13th of any month maybe every month?
please PM me at ilovehorses2500 in international server

    ReplyDelete
  58. Does having lots of Junior Croesus give you a better chance or is there no point in having multiples?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Seriously people read the previous comments and you will find your answer but just the repeat another persons post:
Yes, your horse can be female.
~ Your Junior Croesus can be any age, gender, or skill level.
~ You do not have to have bred the horse.
~ You *DO NOT* get a better chance with every JC you have. Only one will count.

  63. So. Should I have a female horse that has been bred. Will her foal be deleted or not? I have a very small farm-just my top 1 or 2 or 3 GP horses, and only fillies if I can help it. I just want to know because I recently gave birth to a 2102.21 GP filly that I plan on breeding.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, her foal will be deleted. READ THE OTHER POSTS. What do they say? "Think of it this way: the horse you named Junior Croesus vanishes and in its place is a Croesus, a whole new horse." Is Croesus male or female? MALE. Can he reproduce? NO. So, will he give birth? NO. Will he be pregnant? NO. So, will the foal disappear along with its mother? YES!

    ReplyDelete
  65. That being said, if you just recently gave birth, then no it won't be deleted. only the mother would disappear, not the birth foal, if a mother is pregnant... then there would be no child as it was never born.

    ReplyDelete
  66. would a female have a chance of turning into a croesus if its named junior croesus? if so will it be a female croesus or will it become a male?

  73. I think giving the horse a Croesus' Fortune will increase it's chances of becoming a full Croesus DH. My friend, Jade123456789 had a Croesus' Fortune on her horse and it became a full Croesus DH. It was a Black colored Standardbred, but do whatever you want with that information. Sadly, though, her account was shut down due to inactivity. Hope this helps!
